Inscription  Sacred to the Memory of George Edward Knox, KT, LLD., I.S.O., I.C.S., whose fifty six years of service were marked throughout by faithfullness to duty, by sincerity of purpose and by unfailing courtesy both as an Executive Officer and as a Judge. He won the appreciation of Government and the admiration of his colleagues. He sat as a Judge of the High Court for thirty years often acting as Chief Justice. During his long stay in this city he was zealous in promoting education and served as Vice Chancellor of the University for five years. He manifested active interest in the welfare of the Anglo-Indian community and his ready help in all good works was enhanced by the devoted companionship of Lady Knox. He was an eminent example of true Christianity. Born 14th November 1845. Died 20th July 1922. This tablet erected by public subscription.
