Inscription  who was killed by the explosion of a mine when engaged in destroying the Fort of Malachur on the 1st October 1857. {He?] was leader of the Forlorn Hope which on the 21st Septr 1857 successfully attacked the Cashmere Gate Delhie. He was awarded the first Victoria Cross given in India.
